Plain

The first of the Sniper Trilogy, Plain is the first book, describing Nina's high school years.

In a Nutshell: Nina, a plain Hispanic-American girl, is atheist. The problem is, her parents are both strict Roman Catholics, with zero tolerance for any other religion. When Nina tells her parents, she's shipped off to a Catholic school, in order to straighten her out. The odds of her surviving are slim to none.

Cast: (Note: Will be updated as characters are introduced and characterized.)

Nina Sanchez: The heroine, she is atheist and half-proud, hanging out with a rag-tag team of misfits. She embraces being Russian, because her name means differently in the language, but she's proud to be Hispanic-American.

Elise Hale: Nina's best friend. She is a crazy, wild party girl, with several piercings and a tattoo, but looks normal overall. Has a boyfriend named Chris, and is a well-seasoned drinker.

Jess Adams: Jessica "Jess" Adams is Nina's other friend, who seems pretty normal. She likes to draw and write, but is kind of cynical and pessimistic.

Drake Hallowell: Drake is basically Nina's sassy gay friend, because he IS gay. Jessica hates his because he stole her boyfriend, who is in Colorado. He loves dying his hair, getting piercings and tattoos, and doing it with his boyfriend.
